Driving Change through Empowerment

SISo Nepal, established in 2003, is a national-level, non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization registered under the Organization Registration Act 2034 BS in the District Administration Office Kathmandu and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) of Nepal. SISo Nepal is dedicated to improving the quality education, human resource and health development of underprivileged communities in Nepal, with a focus on ensuring access to quality education and basic health rights for all.
About Us

SISo Nepal was founded in response to the growing health needs within Nepal, aiming to supplement and complement the Government of Nepal’s efforts. The organization strives to establish a congenial environment for ensuring basic health rights while conducting a wide range of programs to address emerging health needs. These programs focus on areas such as Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), Family Planning, Adolescent-Friendly Health Services, and Life Skills.

SISo Nepal aspires to be an effective, independent, and self-sustained organization, working at the national level through strong partnerships with local NGOs, INGOs, bi-lateral agencies, UN agencies, and the Government of Nepal. We focus on direct project implementation and support service delivery to like-minded agencies. Guided by a participatory approach, we emphasize community participation, learning by doing, and the provision of quality services.

SISo Nepal has extensive experience in designing and implementing education and awareness programs targeted primarily at adolescents. These programs address critical issues such as ending harmful practices, promoting gender equity, and exploring the links between population dynamics, reproductive health, and climate change adaptation. In addition, SISo Nepal incorporates cross-cutting themes such as human rights, democracy, and access to education.

One of the organization’s key strengths lies in its ability to develop and distribute high-quality Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) and Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) materials. These include customized training packages, job aids, and mentoring and coaching guides that enhance the effectiveness of service delivery in the fields of CSE, adolescent health, life skills, and gender-based education.

SISo Nepal maintains strong collaborations with national to local governmental bodies, including the Ministry of Health and Population, the Family Welfare Division, National Health Training Center, Provincial Health Training Centers; and the Ministry of Education, Provincial Educational Training Centers among others. Its contributions include technical support in development of the National ASRH Program Implementation Guideline, training curricula for health providers, teachers, and peer educators, and establishing Adolescent Friendly Information Corners (AFICs) in schools.

With a proven record of delivering innovative, cost-effective, and impactful programs, SISo Nepal continues to play a strategic role in advancing adolescent health including sexual and reproductive health rights and comprehensive sexuality education across Nepal. Its collaborative approach ensures meaningful, sustained change in the community.
