Driving Change through Empowerment

SISo Nepal, established in 2003, is a national-level, non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization registered under the Organization Registration Act 2034 BS in the District Administration Office Kathmandu and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) of Nepal. SISo Nepal is dedicated to improving the quality education, human resource and health development of underprivileged communities in Nepal, with a focus on ensuring access to quality education and basic health rights for all.
About Us

SISo Nepal was founded in response to the growing health needs within Nepal, aiming to supplement and complement the Government of Nepal’s efforts. The organization strives to establish a congenial environment for ensuring basic health rights while conducting a wide range of programs to address emerging health needs. These programs focus on areas such as Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), Family Planning, Adolescent-Friendly Health Services, and Life Skills.

SISo Nepal aspires to be an effective, independent, and self-sustained organization, working at the national level through strong partnerships with local NGOs, INGOs, bi-lateral agencies, UN agencies, and the Government of Nepal. We focus on direct project implementation and support service delivery to like-minded agencies. Guided by a participatory approach, we emphasize community participation, learning by doing, and the provision of quality services.

SISo Nepal brings profound experience in designing, developing, and implementing programs focused on educating people—particularly adolescents—about key issues in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Family Planning, Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Adolescent-Friendly Health Services, Ending Child Marriage, and the linkages between Population, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Climate Change Adaptation. We also address issues related to Gender, Democracy and Human Rights, and Access to Education, ensuring our approach is effective without disrupting existing social values and cultures.

Additionally, SISo Nepal has significant experiences in developing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) / Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) materials, including training packages and job aids on topics such as Family Planning, CSE, ASRH, Adolescent-Friendly Health Services, Life Skills, Gender, and Ending Child Marriage.

Our team, backed by a strong pool of resource persons, has made meaningful contributions to the Government of Nepal and various organizations, implementing innovative, cost-effective, and results-oriented programs in our areas of expertise.

SISo Nepal has developed extensive experience in collaborating with government bodies, including the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Family Welfare Division (FWD), National Health Training Center (NHTC), National Health Education Information and Communication Center (NHEICC), Provincial Health Training Centers, Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD) and the Curriculum Development Center (CDC) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Provincial Educational Training Centers and Local Governments.

SISo Nepal has provided substantial technical support in the development and implementation of the National ASRH Program, including the development of training packages and the Training of Trainers (ToT) for Adolescent-Friendly Services. Our contributions extend to establishing comprehensive ASRH training sites, conducting whole-site orientations on adolescent friendly health services, and developing Quality Improvement and Certification Tools for certifying the quality of Adolescent-Friendly ASRH Services.

We have also provided technical support to the CEHRD (formerly NCED) and local governments in developing training packages and mentoring and coaching guidelines; curriculums and textbooks on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). This includes conducting ToTs, training teachers, and providing onsite mentoring and coaching for both teachers and adolescent peer educators (champions) on CSE. Furthermore, we have been instrumental in establishing Adolescent Friendly Information Corners (AFICs) in schools.

SISo Nepal is strategically positioned as a leading organization in Nepal, with the expertise to design, implement, and evaluate key health and education programs. We complement the Government of Nepal’s efforts and collaborate closely with other service-providing agencies, contributing to the advancement of comprehensive sexuality education, adolescent health and sexual and reproductive health rights in Nepal.
